daily Camrynism...

I know I am in trouble when my two-year -old tells me as I am about to brush her teeth... "no, Mommy, my lip gloss will come off!!"

...weekend to remember

This past weekend my dad and step-mom came up from St.George to go to the U of U football game with me and Bry and it was one of those experiences I need to post, simply so I don't forget it. There is something about the ambience of a fall college football game that just makes me so happy, and being in the company of the two men I love most in this world...my husband and my dad made it perfect. I know it might sound like I am being a little over-the -top mushy about the whole thing, I mean really, what woman gets choked up at a football game. I am also very cognizant that I am pregnant and cry at least three times a day, but as my parents get older, I can't help but want every moment with them to last just a little longer. The funny thing is, my dad isn't the most talkative or expressive man, but as I stood outside Camryn's room late last night and listened to my sweet, 72 year old dad read "Fancy Nancy" to my two-year-old (who worships him), not just once, but five or six times until she was asleep, I was overwhelmed with emotion and sadness at the same time because I knew she wouldn't remember it.
As I raise this little girl, and at the same time realize I am not one any more, I have a whole new love and appreciation for my parents, who I no longer blame for any of my quirks or 'issues',
but just love the people they have become, the lessons they have learned, and for truly 'getting it' and just living and loving their kids and grandkids.

A fish Story...

Today Camryn and I met Bry up Provo Canyon for a little picnic/fishing. I forgot how incredibly beautiful it is this time of year up here, especially in the canyons and it confirmed to me the advent of fall is my favorite time of year. Too bad it only lasts a month and then the second I am putting on snow boots and a scarf to go get the mail, I will be remembering mid-July as my favorite time of year!!
Anyway, we sat there for about an hour on the bank of the river and watched Camryn fish with her pink Dora fishing pole and when she would start to shake the pole we would ask her what she was doing and she responded, "just trying to catch a fish!!" So... cute!
(This is the third time this summer we have fished with her and have had no success. It is almost more disappointing watching how bummed out Bry gets over not being able to catch a fish for her.) Finally, Bry had to leave and get back to work, so Camryn and I lingered a bit longer and within five minutes of him leaving, Camryn started screaming..."Mommy I got a fish, I got a fish!!" Sure enough she had caught a pretty decent size-who knows what-kind of fish and
there I was alone and completely clueless as what to do. I called Bry and he tried to walk me through the 'de-hooking' process and it was just too gross, so fortunately this cute little elderly man saw our struggle and me yelling into the phone and approached us and took the pliers out of my hand and the hook out of the fish and off he went!

It was quite the day for us and to be honest I was a little disappointed in myself. I mean really, I couldn't touch a fish? Hopefully I am never put in a position where something bigger than a fish needs me to save its' life!!

Katie Holmes...Class of '93?

So I attended my 15-year class reunion this weekend in St. George and as I was searching the web to find a picture that would represent my high school years of 1990- 1993 turns out I didn't have to search far at all... Katie Holmes (pictured here in recent weeks) obviously shares my love and longing for 90's fashion. She is attempting to bring back the pegged leg jean.

Either that or she believes has reached the unattainable level of stardom where she can wear anything (ridiculous as it may be) that she wants, and it will in turn become the new trend. I have to admit I have my doubts on this one, although two years ago I swore the skinny jean would never succeed at a comeback!

Anyway, the reunion, which I seriously contemplated not attending due to reasons of pure pride and vanity (being five months pregnant, with a double chin and unable to fit into anything without an elastic waistband) ended up being very fun! Bry and I sat at a table with some of my best friends growing up, and we laughed the whole night reminiscing about all the dumb stuff we did. Which by the way brought back way too many memories of sneaking out of our houses!
I am tempted to write about a couple of 'sneakout' stories because they are so... funny, but since they were pretty painfully embarrassing at the time, (Amber and Ranz's kiss) I will refrain!!
All I know is this... my girls will bars on their window when they turn 15!

watch out world... here she comes!!!

Well the day finally came! Camryn started pre-school and it is a good thing because she has been asking every day for two months when she gets to go to school. She was so stinking cute in her little uniform (that she put on as soon as she woke up) I couldn't stand it! Anyway I was doing pretty good holding it together, but as the teacher walked her into the building she looked back at me one time and that's all it took for me to lose it and cry all the way home.

Deep breaths...

PHEW!!
I did it! I have officially re-entered the blogging world! I think I have learned my lesson to never procrastinate so long to blog for the mere fact that the guilt of not doing it nearly gave me a panic attack! However, moving gave me multiple panic attack's any way so it didn't really matter.
I also was eagerly anticipating the launch of my sister-in-law's new blog design business, "Embellished by Design" so I could be one of her guinea pigs and get a blog makeover and of course, she did an amazing job! So instead of completely overwhelming myself and trying to post the events of the past few months let's just highlight the good stuff.

*we finally are moved back and settled ( if you can call it that) in Draper...thus the absence of blogging.

*we are having one of these: ( another little girl)
